Created by Sarah Lampert, Netflix have renewed Ginny & Georgia for a second season, and fans are delighted. Although some critics have complained about the general humour of the show, the overall reaction has been warm.
The first season of the hit programme premiered on Netflix on February 24th and featured ten episodes. The show sees the titular duo leaving Texas and relocating to a smaller town for a fresh start following the death of Georgia’s husband.

A little shy of two months after series one of Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia premiered on the streaming giant, the cast released a video confirming the renewal of the second season.
Creators Debra J. Fisher and Sarah Lampert said, “We are so appreciative of the incredible response and love you all have shown Ginny & Georgia. We’re especially grateful to Brianne and Toni, who set the highest bar every step of the way. We can’t wait to return to Wellsbury for season two.”
Was Ginny & Georgia a well-performing show on Netflix?
Although Taylor Swift called out Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia for their incredulous humour on Twitter. She took aim at the show for involving her personal life within the narrative, but despite Swift’s rage, the show was popular.
It soared charts on Netflix in various regions, including South Africa, United States, the United Kingdom, Mainland Europe and Australia. Although Netflix is usually very tight-lipped about their viewership data, they revealed that the title was viewers by 52,000,000 people.

The first season saw Austin and Ginny leave under unfavourable circumstances. Although they will most likely make a safe return, their mother will probably face severe consequences for her past actions that might compel them to evade town. Their father, Zion, might go to Wellsbury to spend time with his children.
The follow up will most likely deal with Georgia’s mysterious involvement with the disappearance and subsequent deaths of her previous husbands. If her past actions and sins catch up with her, the show will take an ominous route. With various people from the past making a comeback, many compelling potential storylines are on the horizon.
If Zion and Georgia rekindle their relationship, it might cause problems between her and Paul. Season one saw her personal life left in chaotic shambles, and it will most likely intensify the tension. The question that pervades the upcoming season is whether she will manage to reconcile with her friends. Ginny’s previous infidelity issues might also lead her closer to her neighbour.

Currently, the show is in the pre-production stage. Although it was renewed back in April, the production date has finally been declared to be a tentative November 29th. With a shooting schedule similar to that of Firefly Lane, the two shows might be released in close proximity with each other.
