Everything to know about Netflix’s new animated comedy ‘DANG!’
Nobody, and we mean nobody, can humble you with the efficiency of a sibling who has seen you crap your pants. And if that just brought back some memories, Netflix’s new adult animated comedy may have been engineered specifically for you. DANG! seems to understand that peculiar sibling dynamic better than most, and there is no way in hell we are saying no to that.
But is it just us, or can you see a little Modern Family DNA in that setup? Three siblings, one tightly wound and the rest just living the life like the chill spirits they are.
And it gets more interesting. Andrew Law, who worked on The Good Place, created the series, and Netflix is pitching it as raunchy and irreverent. That alone tells you that we are about to witness some droll writing.
Basically, DANG! has our attention. Now let’s see what this family is actually up to.
What is the plot?
The show follows Andrew and Eunice Dang, two siblings muddling through their already messy New York City lives until their formidable older sister Ruthie comes crashing back into the picture. That’s where the fun begins… For us. Ruthie has spent years looking like the sibling who has got life all figured out, but this return immediately puts a dent in that image.
Andrew and Eunice, being nice, try to teach her how to stop treating imperfection like a personal crisis, while she attempts to introduce them to the concept of functioning like adults. Ehh, it’s hard not to see the Modern Family parallels; only Ruthie is Alex Dunphy.
Who is in the voice cast?
Leading the Dang family is Stephanie Hsu as Ruthie, whom you will probably know from Everything Everywhere All at Once. Her sister Eunice is voiced by Poppy Liu of Hacks fame, while Andrew Law is stepping in as brother Andrew. And rounding out the extended fam is Noël Wells, familiar from Master of None. Those are some good comedy genes in this on-screen fam.

When does DANG! release on Netflix?
Mark it on your calendars as DANG! premieres globally on Netflix on September 8th. Season one will have eight roughly 30-minute episodes, which are totally bingeable over a weekend or, if you’re impatient, in an all-nighter.
