What is the plot?
Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes is an upcoming three-part true-crime documentary that chronicles the rise of the titular American cult leader, who was responsible for a string of murders in late 1960s California, amidst the peak of the hippie movement. The cult was known as the Manson Family, and the members were tasked to carry out several brutal killings, including that of actor Sharon Tate.
While Manson didn’t commit the crimes directly, he was indeed the architect behind them. The documentary details the case through never-before-heard prison audio recordings, firsthand accounts and archival footage, also featuring interviews with former Manson Family members and police officials.

Created and directed by Oscar-nominated Joe Berlinger, Rachel Profiloski, whose credits include Madoff: The Monster of Wall Street, Jen Isaacson, best known for her work in Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes, Jon Kamen, who also worked on the recent The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare, and Tom O’Brien have co-produced Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes.
Speaking to Tudum, Berlinger said, “Rather than an addition to the mythology surrounding Manson, our goal was to examine the systems of manipulation and control he created, while centring the voices of those who lived through it and continue to grapple with its aftermath.
