Everything you need to know about ‘Wednesday’ Season 3

Praise be! Wednesday season three has finally wrapped filming after seven months of production, and Netflix marked the occasion with a fresh image of Jenna Ortega back at Wednesday Addams’ typewriter, which is not exactly the trailer everyone is itching for, but come on, we will take what we can get. The footage is at last in the can, and the new season will soon have a definitive date for us to begin the countdown.

This might take you back to season two, which left us plenty to work with, because Wednesday had barely regained her psychic powers before Enid’s alpha-werewolf transformation sent her tearing off into the wilderness, while Aunt Ophelia, the relative everyone had spent the season talking about as though she were some Gothic family legend, turned out to be very much alive. What a bombshell!

Netflix has added a few more pieces to the puzzle, with new cast members coming aboard and filming even moving beyond Ireland for a small stretch in Paris that nobody has explained yet. So yes, filming may be finished, but there is plenty of information to be out yet.

Netflix is still keeping things close to the chest, mind you, which is probably wise because what has slipped through gives us more than enough to get our hands on.

What will Wednesday Season 3 be about?

Season two leaves Wednesday heading off with Uncle Fester to find Enid, who is still trapped in her alpha-werewolf form, so season three already has a rescue mission waiting before Nevermore can even pretend life is back to normal. Wednesday has a regard for displaying emotions quite similar to the enthusiasm most people reserve for root canals, but leaving Enid to fend for herself? Not a chance.

Then there is Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s missing sister, who spent season two haunting the family history without appearing in the flesh, only for Wednesday’s restored visions to reveal her imprisoned inside Grandmama Hester’s home, scrawling “Wednesday must die” across a wall.

Eva Green is taking on the role, while co-showrunner Miles Millar has said Ophelia’s return will hit the Addams family “like a bomb” and help drive season three. Family reunion, anyone?

Netflix says season three will push further into Wednesday’s world and uncover more Addams family secrets, with Nevermore still very much in the picture, and Paris making things interesting.

Who is in the Wednesday Season 3 cast?

Ortega is back, of course, with Emma Myers returning as Enid and Hunter Doohan reprising Tyler, while Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán remain Morticia and Gomez. Fred Armisen is also returning as Uncle Fester.

Green has the meatiest new role as Ophelia, while Winona Ryder is also joining in an undisclosed part, reuniting with Ortega and Tim Burton after Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Lena Headey is aboard too, with Andrew McCarthy and James Lance among the guest stars and Netflix is keeping most of those characters under wraps.

Where was Wednesday Season 3 filmed?

Production returned to the Dublin area after season two, but this time the cameras also followed Wednesday to Paris. Netflix has already shown Ortega near the Eiffel Tower, though what drags Wednesday all the way there is still a secret. Wednesday Addams in the City of Love, anyone?

When will Wednesday Season 3 be released?

Netflix still has not given season three a release date, so 2027 is only an educated guess for now. What we do know is that filming has wrapped; from here, it comes down to post-production and whenever Netflix decides Wednesday is ready to make everyone’s life difficult again. For now, then, keep your powder dry.
