Everything to know about the Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton-led survival thriller, ‘Apex’
If you think Netflix slowed down with action thrillers, you’re not ready for what’s coming your way in 2026. Action superstars Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton have joined forces for a survival thriller unlike any other, Apex, following their successful ventures in Carry-On and The Old Guard 2.
In the upcoming movie, Theron and Egerton will confront a brand-new challenge when an intense cat-and-mouse chase begins in the untamed wilderness of Australia.
“I couldn’t be more excited,” director Baltasar Kormákur told Netflix last February when filming kicked off for Apex. “Working in the rugged, beautiful terrains of Australia with three of the world’s most talented, dedicated actors in Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana is such a joy – even as I put them through the [ringer] in this unique survivor story.”

What is Apex about?
Apex is a forthcoming survival thriller, set in the ruthless wilderness of the Australian landscape, which follows a woman seeking calm and solace in the woods who inadvertently gets involved in a deadly cat-and-mouse chase with a serial killer. The film is currently filming in New South Wales, Australia, home of the Blue Mountains.
“For a film like Apex – where the characters that loom just as large as the movie stars battling in it – no other country in the world could have taken the place of Australia as our primary location,” Kormákur says.
Who makes up the cast and crew of the movie?
Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana make up the cast of Apex. Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready are producing the thriller for Chernin Entertainment, Ian Bryce for Ian Bryce Productions, Theron, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix for Secret Menu, and Kormákur for RVK Studios.
Ray Angelic, Will McCance, and Dawn Olmstead serve as executive producers for Secret Menu.
