Would you look at that, Netflix has pulled off a small miracle and turned The Beast in Me from a limited series into a two-season affair, and Aggie Wiggs is ready to rock your world as Claire Danes again.

But come on, is anyone really surprised by this move from Netflix? The platform had plenty of reason to change course because season one of this psychological thriller opened at number one on the global chart the week it was released and went on to pull 43 million views across seven weeks, which is something you can’t ignore that easily.

Oh, and there were award nominations, alright; only so many of them, with the first season picking up nine Emmy nominations and Matthew Rhys winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series. Well, the “limited” part looks a little awkward now, but we’ll let Netflix have that one.

Showrunner and writer Howard Gordon says the team made one promise to themselves: they would not come back unless they found a story worthy of the first. Looks like they reckon they have, and thank God for that, because dragging Nile Jarvis back for another round of the same game would have felt like reheated leftovers.

What will The Beast in Me Season 2 be about?

Netflix is keeping its cards close to its chest, so there is no synopsis at this point. What we do know is that Aggie returns, which is what we are counting down the days for, and it was only fair, given she was never some innocent author who got caught in Nile’s orbit. This lady kept walking towards the danger and knew, on some level, that she was playing with fire.

Season one gave Nile’s story a strong conclusion, so another copy of that cat-and-mouse setup would make little sense. Aggie herself feels like the thread worth pulling now, especially after a season that showed how she kept going back to Nile despite knowing how dangerous he was.

Who is returning for The Beast in Me Season 2?

Claire Danes is the one confirmed return at the moment, with Aggie back at the centre of the story. Netflix has not announced Matthew Rhys for season two, and there is no wider cast list either, so perhaps keep those reunion theories in the drawer for a bit.

Isn’t that obvious? With no solid cast in sight yet, it was given that Netflix is waiting to announce the release date, so at this point, there is plenty we don’t know about season two of The Beast in Me. For now, we’re just happy that Claire Danes will be back, and that’s enough to get the ball rolling.
