Everything to know about Mindy Kaling’s ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ on Netflix
Maybe it’s the movies, or maybe it’s every adult who swears college is going to be the best years of your life, but when the four girls from The Sex Lives of College Girls get to Essex, that fantasy lasts, what, five minutes?
This hilarious YA comedy comes from Mindy Kaling, the creator behind Never Have I Ever and The Mindy Project, along with Justin Noble, who worked on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Never Have I Ever before co-creating The Sex Lives of College Girls.
It follows four freshman girls, Kimberly, Bela, Whitney and Leighton, who survive together in a dorm at Essex, where the fantasy version of college they had in their heads starts crumbling almost as soon as classes begin.
There is always so much going on with them that produces nothing but hilarious drama, and you know that Kaling cannot go wrong with freshmen, as we’ve all seen in her Netflix hit, Never Have I Ever. Let’s see what this show is about now.
What is The Sex Lives of College Girls about?
The show follows Kimberly, Bela, Whitney and Leighton after they become roommates at Essex College, and all of them have something or the other going on. Kimberly is trying to fit into a world that feels way bigger than home, while Bela arrives ready to reinvent herself and claw her way into “The Catullan”, the campus comedy magazine.
Next, we have Whitney. It looks like she has it together as a soccer star and senator’s daughter, except she is secretly seeing her married assistant coach. Girl, married! And last but not least, we have Leighton, who has her own secret too, because she is hiding her sexuality from almost everyone around her.
Once these four start living together, keeping secrets becomes almost impossible because sooner or later, somebody finds out what’s going on. We would’ve named the dorm “gossip central”.
Who is in the cast?
Pauline Chalamet plays Kimberly Finkle, Amrit Kaur takes on Bela Malhotra, Alyah Chanelle Scott plays Whitney Chase, and Reneé Rapp is Leighton Murray. And yes, the supporting cast is just as promising as the main cast, with Gavin Leatherwood, Midori Francis, Mekki Leeper, and Sherri Shepherd joining the ensemble.
When did The Sex Lives of College Girls release on Netflix?
Oh yes, this time you are in some serious luck, as all three seasons of the show came on Netflix on September 1st, which means the entire Essex saga is sitting there ready to binge. No waiting for another episode or, for crying out loud, another season. So do not think twice, and just press play.
