Everything you need to know about ‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 3
Alas, Charles Nieuwendyk is officially on his one last case, and if that sentence has made your day just a bit bitter, join the club, because A Man on the Inside season three is in production, and Netflix has confirmed that this is where Ted Danson’s late-life detective story reaches its end.
It’s a bit sad given how much life the show found in a widower who had no idea what to do with the rest of his life, and then this random undercover job came into his life and gave him a purpose. It’s hard to not get sentimental because you have watched this man find his way back into life, and now we are being told to say goodbye.
Season two of A Man on the Inside sent Charles to Wheeler College, while his romance with Mona gave the old sleuth something beyond another case to care about, so this time, there is some personal business he has to deal with before sticking his nose into somebody else’s mess.
And oh, he has picked a good mess this time, because San Francisco high society is where Charles is going, with Bernadette Peters at the centre of the case and an estranged brother waiting in the wings.
What’s Season 3 of A Man on the Inside about?
Charles is hired by Coco Van Beck, a grand dame of San Francisco society whose philanthropic work has attracted a saboteur, so she wants him to find whoever is trying to wreck it. That takes Charles among people with money and history between them, where grudges have had years to ferment, and yeah, that is the gist of this show.
We also have Stephen Root appearing as Dave, Charles’s estranged brother, and this man has old scores to settle. Nick Offerman plays Coco’s employee Jack Spencer and takes an interest in the investigation.
Is Season 3 the last season?
Yep. Season three is the final season, and creator Mike Schur says the team gets to conclude Charles’s journey with one last chapter. In a way, three seasons feels like a good place to stop, because the show was never meant to keep sending Charles from one case to another until it gets monotonous.
When is A Man on the Inside Season 3 releasing?
Netflix has not announced one. Filming has begun in San Francisco, so that’s that, but there is no date to circle on the calendar. All we know is that Charles is back on the case, and this one comes with a goodbye.
