Every UK movie and series coming to Netflix in 2027
Netflix has started showing its hand for 2027, and, viewers, the list is getting better by the minute. Last week, Netflix made some major announcements at the Edinburgh festival, but now, we are back with more. However, we have some dates yet to be announced for a fair few of these, which is, well, a little irritating, but enough has been announced that you can finally start picking your favourites for the watchlist.
The Boys from Brazil is one of the biggest, most-anticipated series of the lot, with Peter Morgan adapting Ira Levin’s 1976 novel into a five-part series and Jeremy Strong playing Nazi hunter Yakov Liebermann. August Diehl is the scientist he is chasing, while Gillian Anderson and Daniel Brühl are in the cast too. Wow, they really went all in here.
Crime-fiction fans, keep your shirt on because Dept. Q is coming back for season two, which means Matthew Goode gets another round as Carl Morck, the detective who could make small talk sound like an interrogation. His next case takes him into a crime buried among Scotland’s rich and powerful, and you can already tell Morck is going to make himself very unpopular.
Supacell is back as well, and creator Rapman has called the first season his Batman Begins, so make of that what you will. The first run gave us the origin story; season two is where he wants to show what these South London characters can do once they understand what they have become. Yeah, we’re locked in.
Marian Keyes fans have Grown Ups heading their way too, with Sarah Greene and Robert Sheehan among the cast of the adaptation about the Casey family, where a death brings old grudges back into circulation. Families, eh?
And no, Peaky Blinders has not finished with us. Steven Knight’s sequel series moves the story into 1950s Birmingham after The Immortal Man, with Jamie Bell playing Duke Shelby and Charlie Heaton as Charles Shelby. Two six-episode seasons are planned, because the Shelbys are always in demand.
Then there is The Lords’ Day, which puts Damson Idris inside Parliament during a casual hostage crisis, while Bad Bridgets, from Kneecap filmmaker Rich Peppiatt, draws on the history of Irish emigrant women in 19th-century America, with Emilia Jones and Alison Oliver leading the film.
Plenty of dates still need confirming, but come on, 2027 is looking pretty promising. And if Netflix is already announcing this much, you have to wonder what else it has up its sleeve.
