Every sci-fi movie coming to Netflix in 2023

Netflix has a new lineup of science-fiction originals on the horizon for users. The platform has confirmed genre releases in both movies and series, with some feature films due for release in 2023 and others in production for 2024 and onwards. 

Director Juel Taylor has worked with writer Tony Rettenmaier on the upcoming sci-fi feature They Cloned Tyrone. This film will star Jamie Foxx, Kiefer Sutherland, John Boyega and Teyonah Parris, centring on a series of eerie events that thrusts an unlikely trio onto the trail of a nefarious government conspiracy in this pulpy mystery caper. They Cloned Tyrone will be released on Friday, July 21st.

Next is Spaceman, directed by Johan Renck and starring Netflix regular Adam Sandler, Paul Dano, and Carey Mulligan. This film, yet to have a confirmed release date, is based on the Spaceman of Bohemia book and will focus on Sandler’s Jakub, who becomes stranded in space. 

DC director Zack Snyder has co-written Rebel Moon with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten. Due for a Saturday, December 23rd release, this movie stars Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Bae Doona and Ray Fisher. It will be set on a distant planet about to experience war. 

Halle Berry, Molly Parker, Omari Hardwick and Syndey Lemmon will be appearing in Matt Charman’s The Mothership; still waiting for a confirmed release date. According to the film’s synopsis reads: “One year since her husband mysteriously vanished from their rural farm, Sara Morse discovers a strange, extraterrestrial object underneath their home, Sara and her kids embark on a race to find their husband, father, and most importantly – the truth.”

Code 8: Part II will see Stephen Amell, Robbie Amell, Alex Mallari Jr. and Natalie Liconti appearing in the popular first film, Code 8, with Jeff Chan as director.
