Every Sam Neill movie and series you can watch on Netflix
Some losses just don’t feel real at first, and Sam Neill is one of them. There are certain actors who become such a constant presence on our screens that it’s hard to imagine cinema without them. For generations, Neill was the reassuring face, whether dinosaurs were running loose or gangsters were tearing Birmingham apart.
That’s why the news of his passing at 78 has left so many fans heartbroken. While millions will forever know him as Dr Alan Grant from Jurassic Park, Neill’s career was far too rich to be defined by a single role. He moved seamlessly between genres and prestige TV, becoming one of the most versatile actors of his generation.
The best performers leave behind more than memorable characters. They leave behind films and series that people instinctively revisit, not just for the stories but also for the people who brought them to life. Sam Neill’s filmography is filled with those kinds of performances, every one reminding us why he was so admired for nearly five decades.
If you’d like to celebrate his extraordinary legacy, here are the Sam Neill films and series you can stream on Netflix right now.

Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)
Have you ever thought about how Jurassic World: Dominion was never just about the dinosaurs? The real event was seeing Sam Neill step back into Dr Alan Grant’s boots nearly three decades after Jurassic Park. And once you do that, it feels like no time’s passed at all. This time, dinosaurs have spread across the globe, and Grant reunites with Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm to uncover a conspiracy involving genetically engineered locusts. Aye, giant bugs end up being a bigger headache than the T. rex. Only this franchise could get away with that.
Watching Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum together again is the film’s biggest win. Fun fact: it was the first time the original trio had shared screen time since 1993, and you can genuinely feel that history in every scene. Grant is still the man you’d want standing next to you when everything goes wrong. Looking back now, it’s hard not to smile every time he comes on the screen.
Peaky Blinders (2013-2022)
If you only know Sam Neill as the dinosaur fellow, Peaky Blinders is about to give you proper whiplash. Forget the gentle scientist for a minute, because Major Chester Campbell is an absolute menace. Brought in by Winston Churchill to recover stolen weapons, Campbell makes it his life’s mission to bring Tommy Shelby and the Peaky Blinders crashing down.
The clever part is that Neill never plays Campbell like some pantomime villain. He is cold and often downright terrifying, but there is always something simmering beneath the surface. Neill even worked with a dialect coach to nail Campbell’s Northern Irish accent, despite joking in interviews that accents had never been his strongest suit. It’s one of the series’ finest performances and proof he could be just as unforgettable playing the bad guy as he was playing the hero.
UNTAMED (2025)
One thing Sam Neill never did was coast. Even in the later stages of his career, he kept finding characters that got under your skin, and UNTAMED‘s another reminder of that. The mystery thriller begins with a young woman’s death inside Yosemite National Park, prompting investigator Kyle Turner to dig into what first looks like an accident. Naturally, it gets messier.
Neill plays veteran chief ranger Paul Souter, the man who knows everything, including probably every secret hiding in the park. He is so calm that he earns your trust almost straight away, which is exactly why you keep second-guessing him throughout. It was one of Neill’s final screen roles, and there’s something comforting about watching him do what he always did best: saying plenty with very little.
The Vow (2012)
Compared with dinosaurs and gangsters, The Vow is a much simpler watch, but don’t let that fool you. Inspired by a true story, it follows Paige and Leo, whose perfect marriage is shattered after a car accident leaves Paige with no memory of her husband. Watching Leo try to make the woman he loves fall in love with him all over again is every bit as heartbreaking as it sounds.
Sam Neill plays Paige’s dad, Bill Thornton, and it’s exactly the sort of role he made look effortless throughout his career. He isn’t there to deliver dramatic monologues. Instead, he becomes the emotional glue holding the family together while everyone else falls apart. That’s what made Neill such a special actor.
