Every new anime being released on Netflix this year
Nothing can beat Netflix’s vision board, not even the swings of viewers’ mood boards. In the streaming playbook, Mondays hold the key to many questions – some routine, others heartbreaking. In fact, many Mondays have come and gone, and with them, so have countless titles on Netflix. But this past weekend, it rolled out the queue of every anime coming to Netflix throughout the year. And what better way to beat the workweek blues than with what’s new on the anime front of Netflix?
The treasure trove of Netflix anime has already been cracked open with Dan Da Dan’s second instalment. This was followed by The Summer Hikaru Died on July 5th, which tells the story of two best friends, Yoshiki and Hikaru, from a rural Japanese village. Now that the weekend is done and dusted, a slew of new anime titles await release. The immediate one, up next on Netflix, is Leviathan.
Based on Scott Westerfeld’s 2009 novel, Leviathan is slated to drop on Netflix on Thursday, July 10th. Leviathan takes place on the eve of war in 1914, when a meeting between a fugitive prince and a girl in disguise alters history. On the heels of Leviathan, Netflix will welcome the highly anticipated first season, part two of Sakamoto Days, on July 14th. It is adapted from Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump.
Sakamoto Days follows the return of the retired hitman Taro Sakamoto when the ghosts of his past attempt to exact revenge. The Masaki Watanabe-directed anime series will abide by a weekly episodic release. Lastly, the beloved net animation series, My Melody & Kuromi, is also waiting to be released this month on July 24th. In the wake of My Melody’s 50th anniversary and Kuromi’s 20th anniversary, My Melody & Kuromi on Netflix will transport viewers on an adventurous journey to Mariland.
On September 7th, The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity will hit the Netflix shelves. The rom-com anime has been the talk of the streaming town ever since Netflix’s announcement. It revolves around two schools constantly at each other’s throats: Chidori High and Kikyo Girls’ High. When Rintaro Tsumugi grows close to Kaoruko Waguri, a customer at his patisserie, her affiliations with Kikyo pave a difficult path ahead.
The Netflix anime calendar will round out in December with the third season of Record of Ragnarok. Record of Ragnarok follows a fighting tournament between historical figures versus gods from different mythologies. Netflix has yet to announce a release date. So, fans must stay tuned for more updates.
Lastly, Netflix has hinted at the arrival of Cyberpunk: Edgerunner 2 with a ten-episode narrative from the universe of Cyberpunk 2077. According to Tudum, the title is “coming soon” with no release date in sight yet. But since it’s not clubbed with the list of 2026 titles, it’s most likely to be released by the end of this year.
