Every movie and series leaving Netflix this week: May 2026
Right then, time for another round of running to Netflix and finishing things before they leave. Luckily, not many movies or shows are leaving this week, which means the streamer has decided to take a break, but those which are, some of them might sting.
The Marksman is probably the biggest departure of this week. If you enjoy those Liam Neeson thrillers where he looks permanently exhausted while obviously protecting somebody in danger, this is very much one of those. Neeson plays an ageing rancher helping a young boy escape cartel violence near the US-Mexico border, and the whole thing has this dusty, western vibe running through it.
What actually helps here is that it is not a wall-to-wall action thriller. There’s a slightly sad, worn-out feeling to the movie that makes it more watchable than your average shootout-heavy thriller. Sadly, it is leaving on May 14th, so you’d better hurry.
Then there is Peter Rabbit, leaving on May 16th, which still feels a little unhinged for a family film. Honestly, every human character in this looks about five minutes away from completely losing it, and we don’t blame them. Domhnall Gleeson spends most of the runtime being mentally tortured by rabbits while James Corden voices Peter like an irritating kid on a sugar rush, but surprisingly, all of it works.
In fact, the film ended up being far funnier than people expected when it was first released, mostly because it was massively messy rather than just being sweet. Also, something worth noticing here is that Margot Robbie narrates the film, which most people overlook entirely.
Now, if you are a rather quiet film lover, Kumiko: The Treasure Hunter is leaving Netflix this week, which is a bit of a shame because it’s one of those that people ignore and then rediscover years later, and suddenly become obsessed with recommending it. That’s the sad reality with many such indie films.
Anyway, coming back to Kumiko, it tells you the story of a lonely Japanese office worker who becomes convinced the buried money from Fargo is real and travels to America searching for it. Sounds ridiculous, and honestly, it is a bit, but the movie is actually quite moving underneath all the weirdness. There is this constant feeling of isolation hanging over everything. It has barely anything dramatic going on, and yet everything feels so real.
Over in the series section, White Gold, leaving on May 17th, feels particularly criminal. Loss of any British comedy hurts, but this was a proper underrated one. It’s set in the world of double-glazing salesmen in 1980s Essex, which already tells you exactly what sort of characters you are dealing with here. Everyone lies constantly, and nobody behaves responsibly; just people making terrible decisions and panicking. Ed Westwick plays Vincent Swan with so much confidence that you almost forget what an absolute disaster the character is underneath all the shiny suits. If you enjoy awkward British humour where everybody is slightly pathetic but lovable, you’ll probably fly through it.
Also leaving the same day is It’s Bruno!, which remains one of Netflix’s strangest little hidden gems. The entire Netflix show basically revolves around a man obsessing over his dog while wandering around Brooklyn, getting into tiny neighbourhood arguments, that’s it, and we are not even kidding. Episodes are really short as well, so it’s ridiculously easy to binge in one evening without meaning to.
The rest of the departures include ABBA: Against the Odds, which covers the Swedish group’s rise to global fame, while the timeless tragedy of the love story of Romeo & Juliet needs no introduction, and that’s mostly it. So if any of these have been on your mind or watchlist, now is the time.
