Every movie and series leaving Netflix this week: January 2026
You know what is particularly annoying? It’s how a Netflix show you never got around to suddenly becomes a priority just because it’s leaving. By the way, this is the same show that has just been sitting, nay rotting, on your watchlist for months, maybe years.
One such show that might belong to that list is Hightown. It was not shouting for your attention; rather, it was just sitting politely. You always knew it had substance, knew that eventually you would hit play. But procrastination is what happens when we get too comfortable.
You assumed it would always be around. And not just with Hightown but with many similar shows and movies. That’s what streaming does to you. It makes everything feel available until the day it’s not, and now you’re looking at January 24th like it’s some deadline you never agreed to.
And that feeling does not stop there. House of Lies is leaving the same day, all five seasons, which feels like something Netflix should have made a bigger deal about. Don Cheadle breaking the fourth wall mid-breakdown, Kristen Bell delivering lines that could end a man, every episode riding that exact line between brilliance and complete collapse. This show will definitely be missed, and you can either binge it or you can pray for Netflix to bring it back in the future.
Then there is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is leaving on January 22nd, and that one hurts in a very specific way. It hasn’t even had time to settle into your memory yet; it was that fresh. It’s new enough that you still remember the trailer. And now it’s leaving before you even get to rewatch it with full attention.
And The Hateful Eight, maybe the one film on this list that doesn’t care whether you are ready for it or not, is also gone by the 25th. If you have seen it, you know it is something that requires your complete attention. But if there was ever a time to finally make space for it, this is probably it. Because once it leaves, you are not going to see it pop up again anytime soon.
Even The Open House is slipping away this week. It’s one of those strange little Netflix originals you only remember once it’s already gone. A film that made you more uncomfortable than it should’ve.
But consider yourself lucky that it’s only a small list this week because you never know when Netflix will bombard you with fifty new departures.
