Every movie and series leaving Netflix this week: January 2026

Netflix didn’t even bother to warn us this time because this week’s removal list literally came out of nowhere. That and suddenly everything you weren’t done with yet is moving into the abyss. A few titles, fine. But when Confessions of a Shopaholic and Donnie Darko are both leaving within 24 hours of each other? That’s not right. That’s disrespectful. That’s emotional damage.

And no, it’s not just the cult classics. Even stuff you have never heard of but definitely bookmarked during your weekly “what to watch on Netflix” scroll is being ripped out before you can pretend you always meant to watch it. So here is your heads-up: if anything on this list sounds familiar, stream it now. Because next week, it will be gone.

Let’s start at the top. Al Acecho leaves on January 12th. And that’s just the calm before the storm. January 13th takes it up a notch with Scattered Barriers and The Wait both disappearing on the same day. No time to process one before the other is gone, too. You were never going to watch them, but now that you can’t, suddenly they feel important.

By January 14th, Tanda Tanya (Question Mark) is packing its bags, and if you haven’t seen it yet, this is your last chance to pretend you have been meaning to. Then on January 15th, Netflix clears out Holiday Fun Playlist and Merry Little Playlist, both from 2025, both apparently not worthy of even surviving the full winter. If you wanted one last hit of seasonal cringe, open them now. They are gone in a blink.

January 16th brings a Netflix Original removal with Dusty Slay: Workin’ Man. Did you watch it? Maybe not. But it’s still a little shocking how fast they are removing their own stuff. They gave it one holiday season and decided that it’s enough.

And then comes the 17th. This is where it starts to sting. Confessions of a Shopaholic, yes, that one, is leaving. The green scarf and the accent. The trauma of watching Isla Fisher get rejected by a debt collector in heels. Gone, and the very same day, The Teachers’ Lounge (2023) also vanishes. Critically acclaimed and internationally praised… didn’t matter. Netflix said no.

And just when it couldn’t get worse, January 18th shows up and yanks Donnie Darko. So if you had plans to rewatch it and still don’t understand half of it, it’s too late. And for extra flair, they are also ditching Rachid Badouri: Les fleurs du tapis, another Netflix Original, because apparently loyalty means nothing.

So that’s the week. Netflix is just swinging a bat around and hoping you aren’t emotionally attached. Queue them now. Watch what you can. And maybe take a screenshot, because Netflix won’t even let you pretend they were ever there.
