Every movie and series leaving Netflix this week: August 2025

If you have been scrolling through Netflix wondering what to watch next, this is the week to check your list before a few favourites disappear. Between August 11th and August 17th, a mix of acclaimed dramas, fan favourite comedies, cult classics, and international hits will be leaving the platform. Some of these films and shows have been part of Netflix for years, while others are recent additions that did not stay for long. But one thing is for sure: all of them are worth a final watch before they are gone.

Things start on August 11th with Black Mass from 2015. Johnny Depp has delivered one of his most intense performances as Boston crime boss Whitey Bulger in this gritty crime drama. It is joined by Blueback, a 2022 Australian story about ocean conservation, and The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai, a 2017 Nigerian rom-com that blends cultural differences with over-the-top wedding chaos.

The next day, August 12th, two Hong Kong fantasy adventures depart. A Chinese Odyssey Part One and Part Two: Cinderella, both from 1995, are beloved for their mix of slapstick humour, time travel, and romance. Also leaving that day is Lara and the Beat, a 2018 Nigerian musical drama about fame and family.

August 14th brings the departure of Learn to Swim, a 2021 indie romance with jazz at its heart, along with Summer Playlist from this year and the uplifting drama Where Hope Grows from 2014. The middle of the week sees some big names leave. On August 15th, comedy fans will lose Baby Mama, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as the perfect odd couple, and the romantic drama Endless Love from 2014. Lagos Real Fake Life, a Nigerian comedy about life in Lagos, and horror hit Ouija: Origin of Evil also leave the same day.

The departures continue on August 16th with Anchor Baby, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, and Eli Roth’s bloody holiday slasher Thanksgiving. The weekend wraps things up with a wave of Nollywood titles, including Light in the Dark, Dwindle, It’s Her Day, and You Can Do It Dear! on August 17th and 18th.

The list of series leaving is shorter but still notable. Greenleaf departs on August 11th, taking with it five seasons of drama centred on a Memphis megachurch and the family that runs it. On August 14th, the comedy special Jared Freid: 37 & Single exits. It is followed on August 15th by Million Yen Women, a Japanese mystery about a struggling novelist whose life changes when five women move in with him under strange circumstances. On August 16th, the Spanish thriller Victim Number 8 leaves, ending its run on Netflix after just one tightly written season.

These titles span crime, romance, horror, comedy, and drama, and there is still time to fit a few into your week. If you have been meaning to watch Black Mass, laugh at Popstar, or get lost in the chaos of The Wedding Party 2, now is your chance. Once they are gone, there is no telling how long it will be before they return, so queue them up while you can.
