Wake up, people, because Netflix has picked up the broom to do some pre-Halloween dusting, and no, this is not one of those months where three forgotten films disappear, and nobody notices.

Yes, we got lucky in September because most of the first of the month was whacked, but October has some serious departure business going down.

October 1st, being the first of the month, does most of the damage, and Gone Girl is one of the big ones. This David Fincher directorial is not novel to anyone, but if you were planning a rerun, you’d better do it today.

Then you have Fargo, which is hardly some dusty catalogue filler either. Frances McDormand plays Marge Gunderson, a pregnant police chief picking through the wreckage of a kidnapping scheme that has gone completely wrong, and yes, that wood chipper still has a reputation for a reason. Clueless, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and The VVitch also leave on October 1st, so Netflix is not nibbling at the edges here.

Series fans, brace yourselves, because the same day takes all five seasons of The Parkers, both seasons of Halo and two seasons of NCIS. Then comes dreadful October 3rd, which comes along and pinches all six seasons of Dawson’s Creek, which means anyone halfway through the Capeside relationship merry-go-round might want to get a move on.

October 7th takes Nurse Jackie, with Edie Falco’s Jackie Peyton, a brilliant nurse with an addiction who keeps trying to outrun it, which means you spend seven seasons watching someone hold everyone else together while making a hash of her own life.

And then, ugh, the worst departure of the whole list, probably. Shameless leaves on October 11th with all 11 seasons. The Gallaghers might not have the most organised or chaos-free household, but they have ruled our years for over a decade. Netflix did us bad there.

The back half of October has a few more kicks waiting. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation sails off on October 24th, while all six seasons of Gossip Girl disappear on October 28th. Yes, Upper East Siders, your comfort rewatch now has an expiry date; better buckle up!

Finally, Deadwind loses all three seasons on October 29th as a Netflix Original removal, bringing the month to a pretty bruising close. So there it is: everything you might’ve once thought will stay on Netflix forever is getting removed, and it will be in your best interest if you start bingeing now.
