Last week’s been pretty brutal for Netflix removals, with the first of the month removing some iconic classics like 13 Going on 30, Fast and Furious film series and Jumanji, but this week, Netflix has given us some relaxation time. The removals are fewer, and moreover, some of them come with a peculiar coincidence.

Three films from the man who gave us Squid Game are leaving Netflix US on the same day. Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Silenced, Miss Granny and The Fortress are all departing on November 3rd, and you’d be amazed to know that just one filmmaker was responsible for such different productions.

Silenced is the most devastating departure of the three, starring Gong Yoo as a teacher who discovers that children at a school for the deaf have suffered horrific abuse. The more heartbreaking part is that the film was based on real events, with the public outrage surrounding its release helping bring about legal reform in South Korea.

Then you’ve got Miss Granny, in which a cantankerous elderly woman regains her 20-year-old appearance after visiting a mysterious photo studio. The Fortress, meanwhile, takes audiences back to 1636, when Korea’s king faced an agonising decision during a siege by Qing forces.

But before those bounce, The Outfit makes its exit on November 2nd, and Mark Rylance is magnificent as the film tells the tale of an English tailor whose Chicago shop attracts some rather unsavoury customers. They’re mobsters, you see, and when a wounded gangster comes to him demanding help, the poor man’s establishment becomes a rather dangerous place to conduct business.

But the real heartbreak comes on November 5th, when both seasons of The End of the F**ing World leave. One of the most iconic dark comedies on Netflix, it’s sad to not be able to watch James and Alyssa again on the screen.

Another series facing the chop is Minx, departing on November 4th. Ophelia Lovibond plays a feminist writer who joins forces with a sleazy publisher to launch an erotic magazine for women in 1970s Los Angeles. The comedy survived cancellation before finding another broadcaster, only to face another farewell.
