Every movie and series leaving Netflix in December

December was supposed to be peaceful. That was the plan. You open Netflix, maybe rewatch a comfort movie or play a random episode of a sitcom you’ve seen twelve times… simple. Oh, but what’s Netflix without surprises? The OTT clearly woke up and chose violence because the list of titles leaving this month looks like somebody conducted a heist on the Netflix catalogue.

The saddest part is how random the losses are. You have everything from childhood favourites to cult classics, then suddenly your go-to comedy is vanishing too. It feels like Netflix is playing hot potato with the rights, and we’re the ones getting burnt. And since December is already a stressful month, this list is your official reminder to watch whatever you love before it evaporates.

Let’s start with the titles that might actually break your heart. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is leaving on December 1st, which feels illegal. Yes, illegal. It’s the movie every ’90s kid had burned into their emotional DNA. Back to the Future Part II is also saying goodbye, so good luck explaining time travel logic without it. And then there’s The Goonies, which, leaving in December, feels like Netflix is personally attacking our inner child.

The action lovers are also going to feel this one: Edge of Tomorrow, Midway, The Equalizer, Escape Room, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (both films) are all packing their bags. But the one that is going to hurt the most is Inglourious Basterds. The beauty it is. It’s a classic cinematic experience with acting so good that the internet still praises it after so many years.

Comedies? Yeah… Netflix is clearing shelves here, too. Billy Madison, Game Night, Hot Shots!, Hot Shots! Part Deux and the entire Austin Powers trilogy are leaving. So if you ever relied on Dr Evil or Mini-Me for background entertainment while you worked or cooked or procrastinated, this is your warning and reminder to watch them asap. And Clueless? Gone on December 1st. Tell Cher we’re sorry.

Animation fans get hit next: Paddington is leaving, along with Despicable Me 4, which is hilarious because it barely arrived.

Now for the shows. This is where things get dramatic. How I Met Your Mother is leaving on December 3rd. Yes, all nine seasons. Gone. Vanished. So if you were planning a rewatch (more like a marathon at this point), this is your last chance before you need to go hunting across platforms like a digital nomad.

Then, the sci-fi fans are about to experience emotional damage: Arrow, Supernatural, and The 100 all exit on December 18th. This is a triple punch. These shows have carried entire fandoms for years. People grew up with them. And now they’re leaving on the same day, like some coordinated farewell tour.

And of course, Netflix had to throw in a couple of curveballs: Emily the Criminal, Vacation, Daddy’s Home and its sequel, plus a handful of doc films and stand-up specials that you probably meant to watch eventually but now might have to rush.

All in all, December is busy. Titles are flying out so fast that you might need a spreadsheet to keep track. But here’s the good part: you still have time. So pick your favourites, revisit the classics, and if you’ve never seen Back to the Future Part II or E.T., now would be a lovely moment to treat your inner child before Netflix snatches them away.
