Netflix just unveiled its German slate of content for 2026, offering an overview of its production lineup of original movies, series, and documentaries at the recently held What Next? event in Berlin.

From comeback announcements to revelations of new ones, Netflix has confirmed 17 upcoming projects to be released from its German library this year.

Starting with the catalogue of upcoming German series, firstly, there’s Unfamiliar, a spy thriller, scheduled to land on Netflix on February 5th. The series follows ex-spies Simon and Meret, who run a safe house somewhere in the heart of Berlin. But when a threat resurfaces, they are forced to hide from assassins, Russian operatives, the BND, and ex-lovers, while trying to keep their marriage intact.

Next up, there’s a coming-of-age comedy releasing on February 26th, Crap Happens, which follows down-on-his-luck protagonist Toni, a pizza baker in Berlin by profession, who once wanted to leave his hometown of Kacken to become a famous rapper. Following the laughter roster is the second season of Crooks, the German crime drama, although its release date is still undecided.

Also coming to Netflix this year is the second season of the critically acclaimed black comedy crime drama, Murder Mindfully, on May 28th. Additionally, Netflix unveiled first looks and confirmed that they are moving forward with the third season of the show. Joining the upcoming lineup of German series is a thriller based on Melanie Raabe’s novel, The Trap, a reclusive author who hasn’t left her house since the murder of her sister a decade ago.

Lastly, The Empress is returning for a third season in the latter part of the year alongside Love & Chaos, a new drama series. As for the non-fiction catalogue, fans can expect the return of Kaulitz & Kaulitz and Too Hot To Handle: Germany, whose release dates are yet to be revealed.

Moving on to the catalogue of German films coming to Netflix in 2026, we have 23 000 Lives, a drama film inspired by true events, which tells the story of a group of people who purchase an old fishing vessel to rescue refugees stranded in the Mediterranean. Although its release date hasn’t been revealed, Eat Pray Bark, a new comedy movie, is set to be released on Netflix on April 1.

Following next is yet another comedy film, The Birthday Gift, which revolves around a birthday party gone terribly wrong. Meanwhile, succeeding it is another laugh-out-loud comedy, My Best Friend, His Girlfriend, & Me.
