Every film and series coming to Netflix December 2024
It’s that time of the year again when the sleigh bells start jingling, and everyone begins to panic about last-minute Christmas shopping. As the temperature drops and everyone begins fully embracing the holiday spirit, though, few things put you in the Festive mood more than watching a good Christmas movie or TV show. Naturally, Netflix has filled our stockings this year with all kinds of treats, in addition to several new offerings that don’t necessarily scream Christmas but do undoubtedly spell binge-watch while eating turkey sandwiches after the big day.
The big release of the holidays has to be Squid Game season two, which will hit the streaming giant on Boxing Day. According to Netflix, the new season of the unprecedented Korean success story will see Lee Jung-jae’s Seong Gi-hun return with an agenda, having resolved to take down the creators of the vicious game instead of fleeing for the US.
December 5th will see the debut of Black Doves, a spy series created by Giri/Haji’s Joe Barton. The official synopsis reads, “When a spy posing as a politician’s wife learns her lover has been murdered, an old assassin friend joins her on a quest for truth — and vengeance.”
Given Barton’s other works, including The Lazarus Project and Netflix’s The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, the show will likely have a healthy streak of black humour to accompany its espionage thrills.
The big movie release of the season is Carry-On, which will be available to stream from December 13th. It stars Taron Egerton as an airport security officer in a deadly battle of wits with a mysterious stranger (Jason Bateman) trying to force him into allowing a dangerous package to make its way onto a Christmas Eve flight.
Other intriguing offerings include the Netflix Original animated movie That Christmas on December 4th, which is written by Richard Curtis and features the voices of Brian Cox, Bill Nighy, and Jodie Whittaker, and the sixth season of hit romantic drama Virgin River, which drops on December 19th.
