As the sweltering days of August roll in, a bundle of good films and shows leave the Netflix streaming library. Among the most notable departures are films that have been both critical and commercial success. On August 1st, set your calendars as a slew of titles will take their final bow. From the inspirational drama The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) to the action-packed Bond adventure of Skyfall (2012), teen drama Mean Girls (2004) and the animated Hotel Transylvania (2012), plenty of good entertainment leaves this August.
As we delve deeper into the month, the departures continue on August 4th, with the somewhat crackpot Indian romance Chennai Express (2013), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
Indian cinema aficionados must also catch the powerful and emotional Bombay (1995) before it departs. This iconic Tamil film, directed by Mani Ratnam, portrays the heart-wrenching story of love amid the backdrop of the 1992 Bombay riots.
Another Ratnam gem, the new-age romance O Kadhal Kanmani, will leave this month too. This Tamil film explores the modern-day complexities of love and live-in relationships grappling with the challenges of urban life.
For fans of superhero flicks, don’t miss out on the action-packed Bhavesh Joshi Superhero. This Hindi film, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, follows a young man’s transformation into a vigilante seeking justice against societal corruption and injustice.
Christopher Nolan’s epic war drama Dunkirk (2017) sails away on August 13th. But that’s not all – the exodus continues until the last day of the month, with Les Misérables (2012) and seasons six and seven of the Winx Club making their final appearance on August 16th and 17th.
These are just a taste of the numerous titles that will bid their farewell from Netflix in August 2023.
