Every film and series coming to Netflix this week: July 2023

This week Netflix unveils yet another exciting lineup of films and series. From unearthing ancient mysteries to diving into the depths of the ocean, this week’s offerings may be slim but there are a few fascinating picks.

Starting on July 17th, prepare to be transported to the heart of South Africa’s Cradle of Mankind in the documentary series Unknown: Cave of Bones. Join Paleoanthropologist Lee Berger and his team as they embark on a groundbreaking mission to prove that an ancient ape-like creature once practised complex burial rituals, potentially reshaping our understanding of hominid evolution and the origins of belief.

On July 19th, we have the comedy The (Almost) Legends. Follow the journey of half-brothers Romeo and Preciado as they reunite to honour their late father’s memory in a car rally, fueled by both heart-pumping excitement and the pulsating rhythms of banda music.

Venturing into the realm of deep-sea exploration, The Deepest Breath dives into the world of free diving. The extraordinary efforts of a free diver and an expert safety diver are captured in this documentary as they train to break a world record. Directed by Laura McGann, this documentary delves into the risks and rewards of pursuing a dream amidst the enchanting and terrifying depths of the ocean.

On July 20th, arrives in the animated neo-futuristic city of Lusaka, Zambia, Supa Team 4. Join four teenage girls as they embark on a journey to become undercover superheroes, teaming up with a retired secret agent to, as you can guess, save the world from an imminent threat.

Returning for its highly anticipated third season on July 20th, Sweet Magnolias continues to weave tales of friendship, love, and resilience in the charming and fictional Southern town of Serenity.

Concluding the week on July 21st, prepare for an out-of-this-world sci-fi They Cloned Tyrone. This science fiction comedy mystery film stars John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and Jamie Foxx as an unlikely trio uncovering a government cloning conspiracy. With a talented ensemble cast and a touch of satire, horror, and absurdist humour, this film promises an exhilarating viewing experience.

In addition to the new releases, Netflix also brings back the beloved reality series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, all ten seasons of it. With Ty Pennington at the helm, watch as a team of designers and contractors race against time to rebuild an entire house in just seven days.
