There is another hefty dose of new titles coming from Netflix this week, with a mammoth array of new films and series being released on the platform. New classics and old favourites are the order of the day.

January 2024 on Netflix is set to be a binge-worthy month, blending genres and narratives that will captivate viewers across the spectrum with both impressive new movies and intriguing series. But there is one movie destined to cause a stir.

On January 16th, Cats, the beleaguered musical brought to the screen, is making its way to Netflix. The movie has been considered one of the worst of all time despite starring big hitters like Judi Dench and Taylor Swift.

Cats was a film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical. Directed by Tom Hooper, it featured a star-studded cast of anthropomorphic cats portrayed through digital fur technology. Despite its impressive ensemble, the movie received mixed reviews for its visual effects and narrative choices, becoming a memorable cinematic curiosity.

New movies Sixty Minutes and The Kitchen are given their premiere near the end of the week, however, most parents will be chomping at the bit for the latest edition of CoComelon, which has been rightly regarded as an animated saviour for crying babies.
