Every month Netflix enhances its content library with a raft of new film and television titles, and there’s plenty coming down the pipeline in August to keep subscribers engaged, enthralled, and entertained.

BBC crime series A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder ticks many of the boxes typically associated with the streaming service’s biggest hits, so it would be safe to assume the story of a solved murder that may not be as cut-and-dried as first assumed will be appointment viewing for users everywhere.

That’s just the tip of a very large and very eclectic iceberg, though, with a combination of legacy titles and in-house originals arriving steadily throughout the month to keep audiences occupied. Among the high-profile exclusives on the way are the returns of several hotly-anticipated shows, with Emily in Paris back on the airwaves and The Umbrella Academy closing out with its fourth and final season.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon is back with director’s cuts of each chapter in the bombastic sci-fi dulogy, while the Terminator franchise returns in animated form by way of the anime-influenced Year Zero, not to mention a brand new docuseries from living legend and environmentalist extraordinaire David Attenborough.

In terms of older films, Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher sequel Never Go Back, Bruce Willis’ Red and its equally action-packed follow-up, trilogy-capper Star Trek Beyond, and Hugh Jackman’s dud Reminiscence are all on the way to streaming, without mentioning the black-and-white cut of instant classic creature feature Godzilla Minus One.

As always, Netflix’s roster of incoming additions covers everything film and television has to offer, ranging from action and drama to comedy and thrillers by way of kid-friendly cartoons, reality TV, true crime, and original stand-up specials, with Joe Rogan back for his first live comedy original in years.

It’s a smorgasbord of standout content, then, ensuring watch-lists will be filling up all the way through August.
