Every Christmas film dominating the Netflix top ten charts

December dawns upon us with a nip in the air, the warmth of hot cocoa, the unmistakable jingle of bells, and holiday cheer in the form of movies. And Netflix’s top ten charts are dancing to the tune of Christmas joy.

The streaming giant’s data mirrors how audiences are diving headfirst into the holiday spirit, with a slew of Christmas films dominating the charts.

At the helm of this festive extravaganza is Best. Christmas. Ever! The film has claimed its spot in the top ten globally for two consecutive weeks. Released on November 30th, 2023, this film is directed by Mary Lambert.

The storyline follows Jackie, an annual purveyor of boastful Christmas newsletters, and her friend Charlotte, who unexpectedly shows up on Jackie’s doorstep. What unfolds is a delightful comedy of errors as Charlotte tries desperately to prove that Jackie’s seemingly perfect life is not all it appears to be. However, she ends up walking away with the transformative spirit of the season.

The Christmas Chronicles has been basking in the top ten for six weeks. This festive favourite, directed by Clay Kaytis, stars Kurt Russell as Santa Claus, along with Judah Lewis, Darby Camp, Lamorne Morris, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Oliver Hudson.

The story follows two young siblings, Kate and Teddy, who spot Santa in their home, hopping into his sleigh. A mishap causes a crash, and scattering presents fly everywhere. With Christmas morning looming, the duo, along with Santa, must salvage the holiday by ensuring the timely delivery of all the lost presents!

Falling for Christmas, a tale of amnesia, Christmas cheer, and love, has also been making the rounds with its seven-week streak. Directed by Janeen Damian, the film features Lindsay Lohan as a young, newly engaged heiress who finds herself in the care of a handsome cabin owner and his daughter after a skiing accident. The movie, released in 2022, has made a comeback to the top ten this year, clearly indicating that it struck a chord for the cross-section of fans who love Lohan and the holiday fun.

Who can forget the green mischief of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch? It has been standing strong in the global top ten list for three weeks, while the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas has been a perennial favourite for an impressive ten weeks on Netflix UK’s top ten list.
