Every Alfred Molina project currently streaming on Netflix
Netflix has been behind quite a few captivating headlines this month. However, the ones underscoring its backing of the Molina Renaissance are by far the best.
That’s right! The massive craze that’s been brewing lately surrounding Alfred Molina is all thanks to Netflix’s double-feature of major releases, which has not only reminded fans of the Spider-Man actor’s range but also left them quite obsessed with it.
Within a span of weeks, Molina has managed to simultaneously dominate the television landscape in two completely different ways – first, as a sassy, wisdom-spouting giant Pacific octopus; second, as a grumpy retiree fighting the supernatural.
Although the recent two are nearly impossible to overlook, for those craving a proper actor-focused marathon, here’s every Alfred Molina project currently streaming on Netflix.

Remarkably Bright Creatures (Olivia Newman, 2026)
Directed by Olivia Newman, Remarkably Bright Creatures serves as the latest Netflix adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s 2022 novel. The mystery drama tells the story of 70-year-old widowed Tova, who develops an unlikely friendship with a highly intelligent giant Pacific octopus called Marcellus, voiced by Alfred Molina, at the local aquarium where she works to stay busy after the death of her husband and the mysterious disappearance of his son decades ago.
Meanwhile, a wayward young man named Cameron pulls up in town, seeking answers about his past, particularly about his estranged father whom he never met. While in town, he happens to fill in as a temporary cleaner when Tova gets injured. Although what Tova and Cameron have are entirely different stories, or so we think, they’re in search of the same thing: healing. And if anyone acknowledges that and works on it in Remarkably Bright Creatures, it’s Marcellus.
The Boroughs (Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, 2026)
In what is described as Stranger Things for adults, The Boroughs is the latest sci-fi drama co-created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, that has become the talk of the town almost effortlessly. The supernatural drama series stars Alfred Molina as grumpy, grieving widower and former engineer Sam Cooper, who reluctantly arrives at an idyllic retirement in the New Mexico desert after the death of his wife.
Although the idea of The Boroughs puts him off right from the start, what worsens things is an assault from a resident, making him resolute on leaving the place. But when a monstrous encounter leaves the only friend he made there dead, Sam decides to join forces with a close-knit group of misfit neighbours to fight an otherworldly entity preying on the elderly residents of the retirement community.
Spider-Man 2 (Sam Raimi, 2004)
While Alfred Molina takes on the role of a saviour in his latest Netflix ventures, back in 2004, he put on a suit of the Marvel Comics villain in Spider-Man 2, and hell broke loose in the superhero world. Interestingly, the second film of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tobey Maguire, is currently streaming on Netflix to keep the marathon running. So, count on it and sip some nostalgia.
Spider-Man 2 follows Peter Parker amidst a tough phase as he struggles to keep up with his personal and his heroic duties, making him spiral into self-doubt. But when a fusion experiment goes catastrophically wrong and brilliant scientist Otto Octavius is transformed into the villainous, merciless Doc Ock, Peter has to make a choice: whether to let go of his worldly responsibilities or embrace his identity as Spider-Man.
Maya and the Three (Jorge R. Gutierrez, 2021)
Lastly, to end the marathon, Netflix has an animated fantasy limited series, Maya and the Three, where Alfred Molina voices Lord Mictlan, the God of War. The series blends Aztec, Maya, and Incan mythology, telling the story of a rebellious 15-year-old princess warrior, Maya. Set in a world inspired by pre-colonial Mesoamerica, the plot thickens when Maya’s birthday eve is interrupted by an emissary of Lord Mictlan, the ruling god of the underworld.
According to Zatz, the emissary, Maya must submit herself for sacrifice in the underworld to the God of War because of her family’s hidden past; otherwise, the gods will ravage the human world. Although cornered by the world, Maya and the Three follows the warrior princess’s determined pursuit of refusing to surrender, triggering an all-out war, underscored by a bigger purpose.
