Eric André used his ex’s Netflix account until ‘Little Brother’
When it comes to Netflix access, no sibling backs down, whether younger or older. But it turns out the Little Brother star Eric André went a bit too far for the same, and it was probably worth it.
In a recent conversation with PEOPLE exclusively at the 2026 Netflix Upfront in New York City on May 13th, the 43-year-old comedian revealed that he was using his ex’s Netflix account all along, until very recently.
So, André is actually thanking Netflix out loud, of course, for bringing the opportunity to star in Little Brother, but also for getting back his old account on the streaming platform, which means he no longer has to rely on his ex-girlfriend anymore for a Netflix escape. Sounds like a win-win.
“The only reason I got back on my account that I was locked out of for years is because I made this movie and I talked to people very high up in Netflix to get back in,” he said, referring to his upcoming Netflix comedy, Little Brother. “Yeah, I was literally just shy of asking Ted,” André joked of Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
In Little Brother, directed by Matt Spicer, André plays the chaotic ‘little brother’ whose return to his elder brother’s picture-perfect lifestyle literally turns the latter’s world upside down. In addition to comedy legends André and John Cena, who lead the Netflix movie, the film has a star-studded supporting cast, featuring Michelle Monaghan, Christopher Meloni, Sherry Cola, Ego Nwodim, and Caleb Hearon.
During his interview with the tabloid, André also reflected on his experience filming with Cena, saying, “John’s the best. He’s a goat. He’s goated, man. He can do it all – comedy, drama, wrestling.” In fact, he revealed that the dynamic they shared on set exactly fits the bill of a “little brother, big brother,” teasing that they opted for “method for this one, and it got a little bromantic.”
As for what to expect? Well, it goes without saying that Cena and André will be flexing their funny bones at every minute. But that doesn’t mean Little Brother would be devoid of heavier emotions. “You know the ups and downs, lefts and rights, every emotion,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Cena also seized the opportunity to praise his Netflix co-star. “I have not laughed out loud so much as long as I can remember,” he said. “If you need a refresher course or if you haven’t seen it, The Eric André Show is pretty crazy. And when I read the script [for Little Brother], it’s absolutely for Eric, and he just kind of needed a sounding board for his jokes, and I am happy to be that sounding board.”
While André may have needed a platform to make everyone laugh out loud, Little Brother clearly brings way more than that.
