‘Emily in Paris’ star Camille Razat leaves hit Netflix show

The cast line-up for the fifth season of the show Emily in Paris has been revealed and notably, Camille Razat, the French model and actor who played Camille, will not return to the show.

Camille was featured in the show from the very first season as a friend of Lily Collins’ character, who plays the series’ title character. By season four, the pair were fighting over love interest Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo. Razat’s character was seen packing up and leaving at the end of the previous season after a fake pregnancy line plunged her once jovial character into a darker storyline.

The announcement also revealed more cast movements. Lucien Laviscount, The Bye Bye Man actor who plays Emily’s former boyfriend Alfie in the show, will return full-time to the new season.

Many other familiar characters are set to return for the fifth season, including Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc) and William Abadie (Antoine Lambert).

The popular series will begin filming the fifth season in May 2025, in Rome and Paris. Netflix has also confirmed a 2025 premiere. The foray into Italy was a decision made to “stay ahead of the audience,” creator Darren Star shared with Tudum. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome,” he stated.

Fans had been speculating that a different cast member would leave the show. Bravo’s character Gabriel, a chef and a key love interest for Collins’ character, became increasingly desperate in the fourth season. In October 2024, Bravo aired his grievances with the show, stating that he was unsure whether he wanted to continue.

He admitted to feeling “frustrated”. Playing Gabriel was “not fun anymore,” he complained, as the character was “being slowly turned into guacamole.” Despite this, it appears his character will return for the fifth season.

Razat has yet to comment on her departure from the show, though she appears busy with modelling duties elsewhere.
