‘Emily in Paris’ is coming back for another season

People at Netflix barely let us breathe, don’t they? Season five just ended; it just did, and bam, the renewal news dropped faster than Mindy saying yes to a proposal. Emily in Paris is officially returning for season six, and if you thought things were tangled already… buckle up. Because Gabriel’s sending postcards, Alfie’s being Alfie, and Marcello is probably off designing velvet pants in Solitano.

Let’s be real here for a second: the last season was a mess, or as we’d like to call it, “chaos in couture”. Emily went full international, zipping off to Rome for Agence Grateau’s new office. Girls thought she’d balance the job, a luxury fashion boyfriend, and numerous brand parties, all while she has time to shop for a new outfit every day. Only if life were that simple, Emily…

Of course, she had to choose. Throughout these five seasons, if there’s one thing we have learnt, it’s that Emily Cooper doesn’t do simple. She picked Paris. She picked a career. She picked her version of love. The sad part is managing them all together while aspiring to excel in everything.

And now we are back in that world. Season six is confirmed, Darren Star is already teasing future journeys, and yes, it looks like we are getting more of everything. That includes romantic messiness (Gabriel’s yacht invite still haunts us) and, hopefully, a lot more Mindy with a mic (or not). Oh, and just when you thought the love triangle was turning into a square, Alfie had to go and say that.

So where does that leave us? Well, here is what we DO know. Emily turned down Marcello’s offer to join his family’s cashmere empire. Mindy said yes to Nicolas in Venice, but we are not convinced she is totally over Alfie. And Gabriel, well, he is somewhere between heartbroken, hopeful, and on a yacht with perfect lighting. Will Emily find his postcard? Will she finally figure out what (or who) she wants?

And Paris, sweet, smug Paris, still has secrets. New drama is definitely cooking at Agence Grateau. Camille hasn’t even had her messy moment yet. Julien’s long overdue for a storyline takeover. And can we please give Sylvie more screen time?

Oh, and by the way, season five pulled massive numbers. We are talking 26.8 million views in just 11 days. And all that while people were doing Stranger Things reruns. No wonder Netflix handed Emily in Paris a renewal on a silver platter. The show hit the Top 10 in 91 countries and dethroned more serious dramas with a flick of Emily’s tiny fringe.

So yes, it’s official. Season six is coming.

Until then, rewatch that yacht scene and practise saying “non” to exes, and maybe write your own postcard. Emily might not get Gabriel’s, but she is definitely sending one to us.
