Dolph Lundgren spills the beans on new 'The Witcher' spin-off about The Rats

Swedish action star and martial artist, Dolph Lundgren, recently revealed that he is shooting for a new Netflix spin-off series based on The Witcher, that will go along with Nightmare of the Wolf and Blood Origin to further expand the Witcher universe on Netflix.

The Swedish outlet Aftonbladet reports that Lundgren is currently in South Africa shooting for the upcoming show. Known for his iconic roles in films like Rocky 4 and Masters of the Universe, Lundgren revealed his battle with lung cancer and subsequent recovery before casually mentioning his involvement in the Netflix show.

He did not provide any other details but speculations are rife that this is not about the fourth season of The Witcher, but a whole new spin-off that focuses on The Rats, a band of young thieves from Nilfgaard, who make their appearance in the third book of The Witcher series, Time of Contempt

This is the same book that will serve as the foundation for the upcoming third season of The Witcher. The Rats will heavily feature in the third season of the series, which serves as Henry Cavill’s last as the titular Witcher, Geralt of Rivia.

As per DanielRPK Patreon, who posted the following short logline for the upcoming project, the new spin-off will be about this: “Six teenage thieves must rely on their criminal skills as they plan the biggest heist of their careers against the most dangerous crime ring in the kingdom”

While Lundgren’s exact character has not been confirmed, speculations suggest that he will portray the formidable bounty hunter, Leo Bonhart, serving as the spin-off’s primary antagonist.

Lundgren’s role in this spin-off opens up the possibility for his appearance in future seasons of the main series as well.
