Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson join forces for Netflix’s ‘Here Comes the Flood’

Wait, Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson in a heist movie? Be serious. Who at Netflix decided that was a normal pairing? Because this is INSANE, but in the best way. Some people will see the headline and might think that it’s made up, but gear up, people; it is happening.

Denzel Washington, only the smoothest man alive, is teaming up with Pattinson, who just had a thriller-comedy released with Jennifer Lawrence. That’s not casting. That’s fan fiction gone right.

And the name Here Comes the Flood sounds both like a band and a disaster movie. Apparently, it’s a heist film, but not the Ocean’s Eleven kind. It’s going to be more of a guessing game with plot twists and backstabbing casually happening. Fernando Meirelles is directing it, which explains a lot because that man could turn an argument about coffee into a crisis of faith.

Another best part of the movie is that Daisy Edgar-Jones is in it too, and at this point, it’s not strange to think that she is just collecting complex scripts like Pokémon. Makes you wonder how all these people are in the same movie. Someone please check Netflix’s budget. But before you do that, here is everything you need to know about Here Comes the Flood.

What is the plot?

So apparently it’s about a bank guard, a teller, and a master thief who end up tangled in this messy web of cons and double-crosses. No one is trustworthy, everyone is scheming, and the whole thing feels like a trap that keeps getting tighter. You see, with the type of thrillers coming out today, a general wave of thought floating around is that films have become too predictable. With a storyline like this, where there are numerous twists, people might have their faith restored in thrillers.

If we have to explain it in two words, we would call it an “unconventional heist”, which makes sense. Less about shiny robberies, more about people outsmarting each other until it all blows up. The story where you pick a side early and then immediately regret it. And with the recent Louvre heist, there couldn’t have been a better time for Netflix to announce this.

Who’s in the cast?

We have said this before and will say it again: Someone please go find out the budget of this film because who dared Netflix to fit the most random but elite group of people into one movie? And if that’s the case, kudos to Netflix for actually executing it. Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Danai Gurira, Moisés Arias and Sean Harris… It’s like someone threw every acting wavelength into a blender just to see what happens.

The most surprising factor is Daisy Edgar-Jones being in the mix, which means we’re definitely getting feelings. Like, there’s no version of her on-screen where she isn’t quietly breaking your heart. And we have Danai Gurira? The woman who immediately reminds everyone she’s the toughest person in the room. Sean Harris’s presence will be that unsettling edge where you know something is about to go wrong, even when he’s smiling.

Is there a trailer available?

Not yet, and that’s the worst part. We have got this dream cast with a director who loves emotional messes and a dope title, but no trailer to obsess over. Nothing. Just a few behind-the-scenes whispers and the scream of Twitter losing it over Denzel and Pattinson sharing a frame.

But if you know Netflix, you know they’ll drop a teaser out of nowhere.

When does Here Comes the Flood release on Netflix?

Sadly, not anytime soon. The film’s still shooting in New Jersey, which means we are probably looking at a late 2026 or early 2027 release. That definitely sounds forever away, but think of it this way: plenty of time for Netflix to hype it up and for us to warm up to the content of this amazing cast.
