David Tennant would "love" to return as 'Jessica Jones' villain Kilgrave

Ahead of presenting the 2024 Baftas, David Tennant revealed that he would love to return to the MCU as Jessica Jones’ archnemesis, Kilgrave.

Jessica Jones aired for three seasons between 2015 and 2019, and although the titular superhero faced numerous enemies during this span, the most notable was Tennant’s Kevin Thompson/Kilgrave. The first season concludes with her snapping his neck, and gaining fame for her heroic actions.

Although the character died in the first season, Kilgrave reappears in the second season in hallucinations that Jones has. His voice then comes back to haunt her in the final episode of season three. Now, with Daredevil: Born Again being announced, a character that also features in The Defenders saga, and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher also returning in the show, it seems that more of these Netflix characters might return.

This follows Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter also teasing a return to the MCU. In January, it was reported (via Cosmic Marvel) that she posted a story on Instagram of her wearing a shirt worn by Jessica Jones in an episode of the show. She also accompanied it with the abbreviation of the term, “If you know, you know”.

When interviewed on the red carpet of the 2024 Baftas, David Tennant revealed that he would love to return as Kilgrave. According to CoveredGeeklyhe said: “I’d love to do Kilgrave again, yeah Kilgrave would be great. Yeah, that would be good wouldn’t it?! I mean… he did very much get his neck broken, he was very dead. But never say never in the Marvel Universe.”

It remains to be seen whether Jessica Jones will return to our screens, and whether there will be room for her deadly archnemesis, Kilgrave to return in any capacity. But, as Tennant said, this is the MCU, and stranger things have happened.
