Viewers set for long wait for ‘Cobra Kai’ parts two and three
The sixth season of the beloved Netflix show Cobra Kai has recently dropped on the streaming service. However, the ending of the series is not currently available for viewing and there has been some bad news for fans of the series who are hoping to catch it before 2024 is said and done.
There has been an awful trend concerning Netflix series in recent years regarding the streaming giant taking a beloved show, chopping it up and releasing it in separate parts, and now Cobra Kai has fallen victim to this very same manner of release.
The idea behind this largely surrounds the thinking that with bigger productions taking place at Netflix, with expensive VFX, there often isn’t time to release the entire season of a show all at once, with producers frequently saving the final couple of episodes for a later release date to heighten anticipation and enhance hype.
Normally, a given season is released within a short timeframe, but with parts two and three of Cobra Kai, there’s going to be a lengthy waiting time for fans to get their hands and eyes on them. Part two will not arrive on the streaming service until November this year, meaning a four-month break after part one.
Sadly, part three doesn’t even have a specific release date, only a vague one some time in 2025. Creator Robert Mark Kamen recently spoke of the bigger amount of episodes in a season for Cobra Kai, which might explain why season six has been split into three separate parts.
“15 episodes felt like the perfect number, in terms of the real estate of space, to tell the final chapter,” he said. “[But] it’s tough to binge all that in one sitting.” Evidently, there’s the idea that Cobra Kai should be split up, but the fact that its parts are being released so far apart is beginning to annoy fans.
In addition, there is another facet of the Karate Kid prequel series that seems to be grating on its viewership, and that surrounds the way that the well-received first part of season six ended, particularly its surprising twist.
Spoiler imminent. The moment comes when Tory’s mother passes away, which leads her to quit the dojo and join the show’s villainous Cobra Kai and the mentorship of John Kreese. With part two several months away, fans haven’t been able to figure out what on earth is going to happen next.
