Cillian Murphy brings his next movie to Netflix under new producing banner

After dipping his toes into the world of producing during his time on Peaky Blinders, Cillian Murphy had launch edhis new production company, Big Things Films.

Murphy has produced and starred in Small Things Like These, a historical drama which is set to premiere on February 15th at the Berlin International Film Festival. His next production offering under the banner of Big Things Films comes in the form of Steve.

The film will adapt the story of Max Porter’s novel Shy, which follows a young boy at Last Chance boarding school, an institution for young offenders. Big Things Films, the brainchild of Murphy and his frequent collaborator Alan Moloney, will work with Netflix to distribute the film.

Murphy is also set to star in the film, while Tim Mielants is set to direct. The Belgian-born filmmaker has previously worked on episodes of Peaky Blinders and Legion. Production on the film is set to begin this spring.

Alongside this, Murphy is also set to produce a sequel to his breakthrough film, 28 Days Later, directed by Danny Boyle.

Last year, Murphy starred in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which has won him huge critical acclaim and several nods this award season. The Irish actor is up for the ‘Best Actor’ title at this year’s Academy Awards, as well as a British Academy Film Award and a Screen Actors Guild award.
