‘Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget’ sets new Rotten Tomatoes record

The new Netflix movie Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget has set a new record for the streaming service giant on the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. The film was released on December 8th on the streamer.

Dawn of the Nugget is the sequel to the 2000 Aardman Animations blockbuster hit Chicken Run, and upon its release, there was some controversy that reigned because of its casting changes.

Julia Sawalha and Mel Gibson had voiced Ginger and Rocky in the original movie, but they were replaced by Thandiwe Newton and Zachary Levi, respectively, for the sequel.

Sawahla recently said that she had been “informed out of the blue, via email” that her voice “now sounds ‘too old’ and they want a younger actress to reprise the role.”

Dawn of the Nugget has now set the record of having the highest audience score for any Aardman feature film yet, with a mark of 86 per cent, showing the percentage of viewers who saw the film positively.

By contrast, the original movie scored just 65 per cent, Flushed Away also had 65 per cent, Shaun the Sheep 81 per cent, and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit scored 79 per cent.
