The cast of Netflix’s live-action Avatar has been leaked

After years of impatient waiting and speculation, the cast details for Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender have been leaked and it is fun and reassuring to see a diverse cast. Although Avatar News deemed the information to be “99.9%” accurate, multiple sources in the industry have confirmed the same.

Although Netflix is yet to comment on the leak, let us take a look into the cast details.

Avatar News reported that “crew positions have been filling up and casting calls have been taking place, corroborated and confirmed by multiple different avenues of legitimate industry sources”.

With the advent of social media, usually, when actors follow each other, a collaborative venture is speculated. That is exactly how Avatar News confirmed their suspicion when actors and members of the crew began following each other on Instagram.

The four main roles in the film include Ang, Katara, Zuko and Sokka. The actors that have been roped in to play the roles have reportedly followed each other.

12-year-old Filipino-Canadian Gordon Cornier will reportedly be playing Aang and in all honesty, looks the part.

Indigenous North American singer and actor Kiawentiio Tarbell will most likely be cast as Katara. We are familiar with Tarbell’s talent in the Netflix series Anne with an E. on an interview with NowToronto, Tarbell had said, “It would be a dream if I could work on Avatar: The Last Airbender,” she says. “I’m dying to be Katara.” We are excited to see what Tarbell does with her dream project.

19-year-old Ian Ousley is set to play Katara’s brother Sokka while 20-year-old Dallas Liu, soon to be seen in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to play Zuko.

While we await official confirmation from Netflix regarding the same, we cannot help but get hyped about the stellar casting and the brilliant live-action feature that awaits us.
