Caitriona Balfe to star in forthcoming Netflix ‘Pride and Prejudice’ adaptation

Catriona Balfe is one of Hollywood’s rising stars, namely for her acclaimed performance in Outlander. Now, it looks like she is set to star in a forthcoming Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice

Few things in history have been reworked as much as the classic Jane Austen novel, so it was perhaps only a matter of time before Netflix tried their hand at it. The high society period drama has starred everyone from Keira Knightley to Colin Firth in the past and even has a zombie spin-off.

With the project still very much in its earlier phases and only a few reports circulating, it is unclear what direction they will take the adaptation, other than that it is likely to take the form of a TV series.

Joining Balfe in the cast is Lily James in the lead role as Elizabeth Bennet, while unconfirmed rumours suggest that Helena Bonham Carter and Eleanor Tomlinson have also been cast.

It is reported by Pioneer Scoop that filming began on the series back in May 2021 and is set for release at some point next year.

As far as Outlanders goes, filming officially wrapped earlier this summer on season six and it is expected to land on the streaming service very early next year. Showrunners have also revealed the latest season will premiere with a bumper 90-minute episode.
