Barack Obama will host a new nature documentary on Netflix

As the ream of talents Barack Obama has up his sleeves grows ever larger, Netflix has now hooked the former President of the United States into a somewhat unusual contract. Known for his smooth tones and naturally charismatic tone, the streaming platform has offered Obama the chance to host a new nature documentary.

Our Great National Parks will see Obama turn away from politics and try his hand at becoming a television host. The series will explore the world’s greatest national parks as well as all of the wildlife contained within them. It’s bound to grab a whole heap of viewers when it is released in April.

The show is described as an “epic” five-part series and will be narrated by the 60-year-old Obama. The series will “invite viewers to celebrate and discover the power of our planet’s greatest national parks and wild spaces.” The parks Obama will head to are some of the finest in the world.

The show will premiere on April 13th and see Obama visit Kenya’s Tsavo National Park, the beautiful rainforests of Indonesia’s Gunung Leuser National Park, and the wild and wonderful landscape of Chilean Patagonia. The show is another production from Obama’s Higher Ground Productions, which was launched as part of a deal with Netflix and his wife Michelle back in 2018.

The deal has always been shrouded in mystery but with recent revelations suggesting Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy, two of the streaming platform’s best producers, have each received upwards of $100 million, one suspects the Obamas also made a pretty penny.

Our Great National Parks, hosted by Barack Obama, will be released on April 13th, 2022. You can watch the trailer below.
