Barack Obama turned down cameo in Netflix's '3 Body Problem'

It has recently been revealed that Barack Obama has turned down a cameo in the new Netflix sci-fi drama 3 Body Problem. The show is being developed by the people who created ‘Game of Thrones’.

The eight-episode series is highly anticipated. Netflix described it by saying, “3 Body Problem immerses audiences in mysteries and earth-shattering discoveries before potentially catastrophic consequences come to life as we know it.

As you prepare to embark on this mind-boggling journey spanning continents and timelines – from the 1960s Cultural Revolution in China to the present-day streets of Oxford, England, and the United Nations in New York.”

Executive producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have said that the former president of the United States, Barack Obama, turned down the opportunity to appear in the show.

“[Obama] did sign a very funny note though, when we tried to get him for a cameo,” said Benioff during an interview with USA Today. “It was to the effect of, ‘In case there ever is a real alien invasion, I think I should probably save myself for that crisis.’”

3 Body Problem is an adaptation based on the work of Chinese author Cixin Liu, which is highly celebrated as it chronicles the greatest threat to humanity to date.

“We like the same things about the books that so many other fans do,” said Weiss, “We’re doing everything in our power to bring this story to life in the best, most impactful way possible. But reading the books is not a prerequisite for understanding or enjoying the show.”
