‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’: Watch this Will Smith action-comedy before it leaves Netflix

Alert, this is not a drill because Bad Boys: Ride or Die is officially leaving Netflix next week, and if you are even slightly thinking about watching it, this is your last chance. And you already know what this is. Nobody is going into a Bad Boys film expecting depth or some life-changing story, so don’t even set it up like that in your head.

This is Will Smith as Mike Lowrey and Martin Lawrence as Marcus Burnett, doing exactly what they have been doing for years… just older, slightly more reckless now.

The film picks up after Bad Boys for Life, except this time, it throws something at you that makes you pause for a second. Captain Howard gets accused of being involved with a cartel. Yes, it’s Captain Howard. If you have seen the previous films, you know that this already smells fishy, which is exactly why Mike doesn’t buy it for a second.

It starts on Mike’s wedding day, and things are looking normal for once, except that lasts for about two minutes because Marcus collapses mid-celebration. He survives a heart attack, then wakes up acting like he is suddenly invincible. And we’re not even exaggerating here. He fully believes nothing can happen to him now, which just makes everything he does after that more stressful to watch.

Then we get to the actual plot where evidence starts showing up linking Howard to cartel money. You see proper records which look like they are enough to destroy his reputation instantly. Mike just refuses to accept it (obviously), and we see Marcus backing him without thinking twice. Ultimately instead of trusting the system, they decide to figure it out themselves.

And, the second they do that, everything goes downhill. Turns out these two are getting tracked, targeted, chased, and treated like suspects while still trying to prove Howard was set up, so now things are no longer about solving the problem. They are now about staying ahead.

The story brings Armando (Mike’s son) back, who is still in prison after killing Howard earlier, except now he drops the one piece of information that changes everything. Howard wasn’t corrupt. He was actually investigating corruption inside law enforcement. So now think about it, if that’s true, then someone went out of their way to destroy him.

From there, it turns into this chain of clues Howard left behind, including recorded messages guiding Mike Marcus through everything. And yes, it all builds up to a big final confrontation in an abandoned amusement park, because of course it does. That’s what Bad Boys films are all about. Everything comes together there. The truth always comes out in the end.

You see, Bad Biys movies are never about making you make your brain work hard. They are all about sitting back and relaxing. In the stressful world full of true crime cinema, we need movies that give us thrills but also have a happy ending. And who doesn’t love watching the Mike Marcus duo?

A quick anecdote for you: Michael Bay shows up for a cameo, so do not blink.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a perfect film to enjoy if you love action and comedy. But more importantly, it’s leaving next week. So either watch it now or accept that you are going to forget about it completely.
