Netflix expanded the platform’s Elísabet Benavent Universe with All the Truth in My Lies, offering viewers a steamy, messy guilty pleasure just in time for the weekend.

The romance miniseries follows roommates and best friends Marin and Coco, who aim to keep their relationship strictly platonic while harbouring the kind of affection for each other that makes it difficult to rule the dynamic as simply friendship. It doesn’t take a scientist to determine that they do harbour secret feelings that are anything but non-romantic, and that’s one of the many truths buried in the circle they belong to.

Besides Marin and Coco, the group consists of Blanca, Aroa, and Leron. In the Spanish limited series, Coco and Aroa are seen preparing for Blanca’s bachelorette road trip with Leron, unaware that the celebratory getaway would loosen the threads of their secrets one by one. While Marin and Aroa share a romantic history, Coco was briefly dating Gus, who happens to join the trip with Marin, thanks to a last-minute invite.

Although Aroa sees the trip as an opportunity to rekindle her fragmented relationship with Marin, she’s oblivious to the feelings Coco harbours for him. Coco even spends most of the trip trying to confess her feelings, until she ends up with him on a bunk bed at night, and things get steamy. But do they actually get together?

Are Marin and Coco finally together in All the Truth in My Lies?

While Marin and Coco spend the next few days trying to talk things out in All the Truth in My Lies, Aroa gets a hunch that something’s brewing between the roommates. Subsequently, the latter goes all out to reignite the spark with Marin, but is met with failure. Instead, the best friends take time to discuss why they’re hesitant to step into a full-blown relationship. However, their discussion doesn’t come to a conclusion, at least initially.

But one night, things fall apart seemingly beyond repair after Aroa reveals that Marin has been planning to ask Coco to move out. Although that’s bound to make things messy, Coco leaves the house by herself, leaving their relationship hanging by a thread. But does that really mark their end?

Despite being out of touch for weeks, their time spent away from each other helps them see the bigger picture. And unexpectedly enough, viewers get to see Marin pulling up with a grand gesture in the middle of an art auction, asking her to become roommates again and swap the best friend label for an upgrade: his partner.

What the audience also learns is that Marin’s commitment issues stemmed from his traumatic childhood, and Coco’s anxieties were rooted in the fear of losing the special bonds she made over the years. However, taking the leap turned out to be worth it as a quick montage spanning the months and years following shows Marin and Coco getting married and having children.

It suggests that not just Marin but also Coco’s fears were unwarranted, as Blanca and Loren are seen right behind them, backing them up as they always do.
