All James Bond movies are set to leave Netflix next month

Hell actually broke loose when Netflix added 26 James Bond movies to its streaming library on January 21st, despite a brief delay from the originally planned January 15th date. While fans were barely prepared for the blockbuster surprise back in the day, it turns out they aren’t doing any better about the departure notice.

In January, the entire collection of 25 official EON-produced James Bond movies, along with the unofficial Never Say Never Again, was made available on Netflix in the United States and in many European and Latin American countries.

The James Bond deal on Netflix was the result of an expanded licensing agreement between Amazon MGM Studios, and Netflix, which also saw shows like The Man in the High Castle join the latter’s service. As most of you’re already aware, Amazon owns the 007 franchise.

So, now that it’s confirmed that the James Bond collection is leaving Netflix on April 21st, it’s clear that Amazon opted to license the content to Netflix for a 90-day window to boost global interest in the existing brand.

Although short-term licensing windows aren’t exactly new to Netflix, witnessing a legendary franchise like this one arrive and leave within the blink of an eye could indeed be a tough pill to swallow for 007 fans. But then again, since Amazon acquired MGM in 2022, Bond movies have operated on this “lease” system, occasionally hopping streamers such as Netflix or Hulu.

In case you were planning a marathon or saving titles for a later watch, you’re officially on the clock. Act fast and make the most of James Bond’s streaming presence on Netflix before it’s too late.

While the movies will most likely find another equally deserving streaming home after Netflix, the only problem is that there’s currently no word on that or about the possibility of a full-time streaming home. It’s possible that once they leave Netflix, the entire collection might quietly pivot to Amazon Prime Video or the MGM+ streaming service. However, nothing is confirmed yet.

Therefore, it’s best to seize the opportunity and watch the movies while they sit comfortably on Netflix. As for those curious about what’s exactly leaving from the franchise?
