Adam Sandler's latest movie breaks his Rotten Tomatoes record

Adam Sandler’s latest film, You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah, has marked a career record for the Uncut Gems actor.

After premiering on Netflix last week, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is now Sandler’s highest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes to date.

The film boasts a 96% Certified Fresh rating, meaning that 96% of all reviews of the comedy film were more favourable than unfavourable on the review-aggregator site.

It has dethroned 2022’s drama Hustle, which earned a 93% score. Other Sandler flicks reviewed on the site include The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) (92%), 2002’s Punch-Drunk Love (79%), and 2019’s high-stress Uncut Gems (91%).

Sandler, who has a £199m deal with the steaming service, appears alongside his wife and daughters in the film, as well as former Uncut Gems co-star, Idina Menzel.

The director of the comedy, Sammi Cohen, told Variety that Sandler “loved working with her” on Uncut Gems. “I joke that Bat Mitzvah is like the happy side of their marriage, the prelude to Uncut Gems,” he said.

“We wanted the Friedman family to feel warm, sweet, goofy, normal, relatable; she was just the perfect fit. And she’s also incredibly talented and on top of that is just a really lovely human being.”
