The American acting legend Adam Sandler appears in the new first-look trailer for the Netflix original movie Spaceman.
Directed by Johan Renck, the forthcoming science fiction drama sees Sandler in the leading role as an astronaut researcher alongside Carey Mulligan and Paul Dano. The movie will debut on the streaming platform on March 1st, 2024.
“Six months into a solitary research mission to the edge of the solar system, an astronaut, Jakub (Adam Sandler), realizes that the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him when he returns to Earth,” reads the official synopsis for Spaceman.
It continues: “Desperate to fix things with his wife, Lenka (Carey Mulligan), he is helped by a mysterious creature from the beginning of time he finds hiding in the bowels of his ship. Hanuš (voiced by Paul Dano) works with Jakub to make sense of what went wrong before it is too late.”
Alongside the humbling collective talent of Sandler, Mulligan and Dano is an extended cast of equal strength, including Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin and Isabella Rossellini.
Spaceman was scripted by Colby Day and based on the 2017 novel Spaceman of Bohemia by Czech author Jaroslav Kalfař. The movie is executive produced by Ben Ormand, Johan Renck and Barry Bernardi, with additional production duties handled by Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Peter Kiernan, Michael Parets, Tim Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva.
Thanks to Renck’s prior success helming the HBO historical drama series Chernobyl, hopes are extremely high for this upcoming feature. Check out the first-look trailer below.
