‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ to solve a new murder in new season

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder has been renewed for a second season that will see Pippa Fitz-Amobi investigating a brand new murder mystery.

The new season will be based on Good Girl, Bad Blood, the second book in Holly Jackson’s hugely successful YA series. The series’ creator, Poppy Cogan, adapted season one for the screen, but in a move that is sure to please fans, Jackson will join Cogan to script the second series.

Emma Myers will return as Pip, and Zain Iqbal will reprise his role as Ravi Singh. The official synopsis for the six-episode season reads: “After solving the Andie Bell case, Pip‘s world has been transformed by her actions, and not always for the better. Pip is determined to fix the fallout – and stay away from any more investigations. But, as Max Hastings’ trial approaches, key witness Jamie Reynolds suddenly disappears, and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him. This new mystery will take Pip to unexpected places as she struggles with the idea of justice, straying even further from the ‘good girl’ she once was.”

In a statement, Jackson said, “I am beyond thrilled that we can continue Pip’s story and, this time, I’m writing on the show. We owe everything to the dedicated fans, and I can’t wait to reunite with my AGGGTM family.”

Cogan added, “I’m delighted to be back in Little Kilton with Pip and friends for season two, and to have the opportunity to bring another of Holly’s gripping stories to the screen.”

Moonage Pictures produced the show for BBC Three, Netflix, and German channel ZDFneo. Season one was an enormous hit on all of those platforms. In the summer of 2024, it became the highest-rated drama on BBC Three since the channel relaunched in January 2022, and it was one of BBC iPlayer’s most-watched titles among the 16-24 demographic. Then, when it hit Netflix in August 2024, it shot straight to number one on the Global Top 10 TV (English language) chart.

Matthew Read of Moonage Pictures stated, “We were thrilled to see the incredible response to season one both here in the UK and internationally. It is a testament to Holly Jackson’s brilliant novels, Poppy Cogan’s screen adaptation and our fantastic cast led by Emma Myers that we are able to bring A Good Girl’s Guide back for a second series for the BBC, Netflix and ZDFneo.”

Season two will premiere globally on Netflix in all markets except Germany, Australia, and New Zealand, while in the UK and Ireland, it will premiere on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
