A first look at Yennefer in ‘The Witcher’ season five
It was truly hard for Netflix to pull back The Witcher fandom following the cut-short era of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. And the reasons are too many. Despite the teary farewell, the streamer has done quite a brainstorming to explain the transition in the upcoming season four. Although that instalment is still waiting in the wings, a season five crumb has already made its way to the fans, with the first sighting of Yennefer. It looks like the Continent is ready for real!
Redanian Intelligence recently revealed that production on The Witcher season five is presently underway in Wales. The first stop for filming was at the Trefil Quarry. However, according to the latest report, they have now made a move to South Wales. Along with the relocation, the outlet just brought a first glimpse of Anya Chalotra’s Witcher character Yennefer from the sets of season five.
Although the picture is very foggy, it’s a cue that The Witcher seasons four and five are inching closer than ever. Yeneffer, AKA Chalotra, was possibly taking a time-out as she had a raincoat on. But that’s not what has everyone reeling. She was captured among Nilfgaardians in the scene she was shooting in a South Wales harbour near St. David’s. The outlet additionally shared a clip from the sets, around 30 seconds long.
By the books, Yennefer’s journey to Nilfgaard takes place a bit later. It was previously announced that the Isle of Skellige will appear in The Witcher season five. As for now, the coastal blues of the location and set suggest it could indeed be Skellige. There’s a speculation at large that the Netflix series might be taking some liberties to heighten the spine-chills.
Instead of zeroing in on just Yennefer’s Skellige conquest, they have probably brought Nilfgaardians for a heated confrontation, following her escape from the Lodge of Sorceresses. In the pictures shared, one can also find a Nilfgaardian flag hoisted upon the harbour, and the golden armours are all too telling. However, it’s all speculative for now. Because until the final reveal, it would be difficult to confirm whether the Nilfgaardians have actually invaded Skellige.
What the pictures further verify is that the black armours seen from the photographs Nilfgaardians last year were for a special purpose. It’s unclear what it could be. However, since the Nilfgaardians clearly boast the golden armours in the recent snaps from season five, a lot remains to be revealed in time. Although The Witcher season four release date remains under wraps, given it’s in post-production, it shouldn’t be long before fans get their answers.
Additionally, Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher volume, Crossroads of Ravens, awaits a September release globally. So, every clue coming fans’ way is a reminder to buckle up; it’s time to journey back to the Continent.
