The five best new series to watch on Netflix in September 2022

Netflix has had a hard time coping with the loss of subscribers and the low stock prices. However, the streamer has stuck to its business model and consistently released new content every month for viewers. In September 2022, the fall season is officially here and the streamer is not holding back in providing fresh content that will keep viewers glued to their seats.

In terms of film content, September seems to be a pretty interesting month. Despite the ongoing streaming war between Disney+ and Netflix, which prompted the latter to lose all Marvel show title rights, Jared Leto’s latest Marvel release, Morbius, is arriving on Netflix sometime this month. The streamer will also add a variety of new Original films, besides old-school classics like A Knight’s Tale, A Clockwork Orange etc.

Besides these films, the streaming service will also be adding new Original series to its shelves, many of which have already garnered interest with their extraordinary trailers and promising premises.

Here are the five best new series to watch on Netflix in September 2022:

The five best new series to watch on Netflix in September 2022

Cobra Kai

The fifth season of Cobra Kai is coming to Netflix on September 9th, 2022.

Cobra Kai is undoubtedly one of Netflix’s most popular series. With a stellar cast, namely Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Mary Mouser, Gianni Decenzo, Peyton List, Vanessa Rubio, Oona O’Brien and Dallas Dupree, among others, the fifth season is on its way to the streamer.

Season five will focus on the aftermath of the events of the fourth season. From compelling team-ups to a lot of on-screen Terry Silver, the storylines will “start spinning very fast and very aggressively”, according to Hurwitz. While Cobra Kai usually sticks to their tradition of releasing new seasons every New Year’s, they have “bumped up” the same by a few months, promising an enticing new season.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will debut on Netflix on September 13th, 2022.

One of the most highly-anticipated video game adaptations on Netflix this year, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is finally on its way to Netflix. The ten-episode limited series is adapted from CD Projekt Red’s video game, Cyberpunk 2077 and might witness an expansion to the gameverse, leading to a possible sequel. With an extraordinary soundtrack, the trailer promises a stunning and violent premise.

It will focus on a street kid’s survival in a futuristic city where everyone is obsessed with body modifications and technology. Soon, he turns into an edge runner, a mercenary and agile rebel whose journey the story will follow. Despite the similar premise, the storylines of the series and the game will not overlap.

Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer

Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer will begin streaming on Netflix on September 7th, 2022.

Netflix has nailed the art of true crime documentaries. Over the last year, the streamer has had various interesting real-life events to offer that have had viewers glued to the edge of their seats. Following the infamous butcher of Delhi, the Indian Predator series is back with a spine-chilling story of a serial killer where a journalist’s murder leads to a secret diary that names 13 other victims and hints at an alleged cannibal being the murderer.

Based on real-life events that took place years back in the city of Allahabad, the limited series will provide insight into both sides of the story. Whether the alleged convict is innocent or not will be uncovered in Jindal’s upcoming series which already looks violent and shocking in the recently released trailer.

The Imperfects

The first season of The Imperfects will begin streaming on September 8th, 2022.

The upcoming coming-of-age series looks pretty promising: a perfect blend of sci-fi, teenage tribulations and fun. If you are a fan of The Umbrella Academy, The Imperfects is right up your alley. Three unsuspecting individuals undergo severe body modifications after unknowingly becoming victims of a dubious doctor’s experiments. Having turned into supernatural creatures, namely a banshee, a chupacabra and a succubus, the trio attempt to hunt down the perpetrator and save humanity.

The series has a pretty interesting cast: Italia Ricci, Rhianna Jagpal and Morgan Taylor Campbell. They will also be joined by Inaki Godoy who will also be seen in Netflix’s One Piece adaptation. With a balance of humour and supernatural elements, the series will trace the three Frankensteins seeking out their creator to prevent inevitable disaster.

The Empress

The Empress is scheduled for a September 29th, 2022 premiere on Netflix.

The upcoming German historical drama series promises grandeur, vibrance, historical facts, romance and other conflicts. Based on the life of the well-known rebellious Austrian empress, Elisabeth, the series will trace her relationship with her husband as she battles hostile relationships in the court and tries to assert her position as the Empress of Austria.

While fans have been patiently awaiting Bridgerton season three to arrive, The Empress will provide its fair share of monarchy and history laced with romance and tension. Starring Devrim Lingnau, Sveneja Jung, Philip Froissant and many more, the upcoming series has a promising teaser.
