Though nobody could have expected it, Cobra Kai‘s fifth season looks set to be the one that finally confirms the Karate Kid spin-off as one of Netflix’s biggest hits as it accrued another whopping 95 million hours of viewing during its second week on the charts. Starring many of the original cast members of the classic 1980s movie, the new series is a potent reminder of hos just powerful nostalgia can be.
Elsewhere, making their debut on the charts for the most popular TV shows on Netflix, we have the first season of teen drama The Imperfects (35 million hours of viewing), and Love Is Blind (14 million hours of viewing), which enjoys its sixth week on the charts.
However, the biggest story in the world was the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and while many people chose to honour the royal with flowers and cards, some have taken to the Netflix series The Crown for comfort, with both series one and two featuring on our most popular charts, accruing 56 million hours of viewing between them.
The series charts the life of the monarch from her early childhood until the mid-1990s across four series and will continue for two more seasons. However, production has ceased as a mark of respect toward the late royal.
Stranger Things continues to be one of the most watched shows of this week, and likely the year, with season four still grabbing over 13 million hours of viewing. However, another fantasy drama garners huge audiences with Fate: The Winx Saga and its second season achieving 49 million hours of viewing following its release.
The synopsis for the series reads: “Determined to master their enchanting powers, a group of teens navigate rivalry, romance and supernatural studies at Alfea, a magical boarding school.” That’s some pretty perfect viewing if you ask us.
