Welcome back to our weekly round-up of the most popular series on Netflix. We’ve got a mix of mainstays and new arrivals this week, with a doff of a cap to the honourable Queen Elizabeth II along the way.
We have a new mega-hit on our hands. Though nobody could have expected it, Cobra Kai‘s fifth season looks set to be the one that finally confirms the Karate Kid spin-off as one of Netflix’s biggest hits as it accrued a whopping 107 million hours of viewing last week. Starring many of the original cast members of the classic 1980s movie, the new series is a potent reminder of hos just powerful nostalgia can be.
Elsewhere, making their debut on the charts for the most popular TV shows on Netflix, we have the first season of teen drama The Imperfects (25 million hours of viewing) and Dated and Related (20 million hours of viewing), which puts siblings into the dating world together.
Spooky season is still very much upon us, and the limited series Devil in Ohio remains in the top two, taking 71 million hours of viewing along the way. It will hope to emulate two of the charts’ stalwart entries, Stranger Things 4 (17 million hours), which is spending its 16th week on the charts and Manifest season one, which has been there for almost half a year with 19 weeks of placement and a huge 12 million hours of viewing.
However, the biggest story in the world was the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and while many people chose to honour the royal with flowers and cards, some have taken to the Netflix series The Crown for comfort.
